5 Must-Take Photos During Your Time on Campus (Winter Edition)
Photography is a great way for students to express themselves. Whether you're taking a portrait or landscape photo to post on social media or keeping for yourself, it allows you to not only get creative, but share your student perspective.
Over the years, I have found myself taking photos around campus, for my friends and for myself! Some spots are essential for your graduation or club/organization photos, while other spots can help you remember great memories of being on campus as the years go by.
Check out my top five favorite winter photo locations that you can find around campus:
Top of Polk Street Parking Garage
If you are looking for a portrait or landscape of the winter Chicago Skyline, this is the spot for you! There are no trees or buildings that will interfere with the clear shot of the city.
Top of the Behavioral Science Building
This spot is a staple on campus. If you are new to the scene and have not taken a photo here, you must! The Academic & Resource Center (ARC) and Chicago’s skyline in the background are great for any memorable portrait photo.
Front Skywalk between Commons North and Courtyard Residence Halls
Another staple, especially during the winter months. This spot is great to show off how you rock your winter gear in the snow along with showing UIC pride!
Harry W. Pearce Memorial Grove
Now I’m sure everyone is quite familiar with this scene. This is the entrance to campus from Taylor Street. I have seen plenty of graduation photos taken here next to the UIC Circle LOGO. But have you ever woken up early to view it just before sunrise? I love this scene and for a while I had it as my lock screen.
ARC Stairs
Probably a place people don’t think of much when taking pictures on campus, but this spot is great for its beautiful architecture, specifically the curvature of stairs. It’s unique and it’s a great location for someone to take a picture for their LinkedIn profile or for their graduation photos.
